While serving the needs of our Member community, The Old Field Club is the also the perfect setting for weddings or special catered events. Right on the water, the picturesque grounds are ideal for an outdoor ceremony while the spacious deck is excellent for entertaining guests. Inside, our rooms are the epitome of understated elegance and charm. A classic backdrop to enjoy or transform into a place that reflects your personal style and taste.

Our roots go back to Philanthropist Frank Melville who came to the Three Village area in 1900 and built a home in Setauket. His son John Ward Melville played a key role in establishing the prestigious State University of New York at Stony Brook. In 1929 he built the Old Field Club as a recreation center for the community. Over the years we have become a a private beach and tennis club that is available to the public for weddings, special events and more.

Our Rooms

Right on the water, The Old Field Club accommodates parties from 25 to 180 people. Our classic and comfortable surroundings stay true to the Club’s historic roots with understated elegance and charm. There’s plenty of natural light all around and in the evening, wrought iron chandeliers give everything a warm, inviting feel. We have three primary areas that include the main Ballroom, our Lagoon Room for cocktail hours and intimate gatherings plus a large open air terrace.

Ballroom

With a spectacular view of the water, the Ballroom is the ideal place for your special event in any season! The original wood ceiling is accented with wrought iron chandeliers that add style and grace. There is a large working fireplace along with French doors that lead to a spacious terrace where guests can relax and enjoy the fresh air day or night. The Ballroom also features a sizable dance floor and a 25 foot bar so guests can dance the night away or just enjoy their favorite beverage.

Lagoon Room

The Lagoon Room offers a classy but casual ambiance that is perfect for cocktail hours and smaller catered affairs. Surrounded by floor to ceiling windows, guests are treated to fabulous views of the natural beauty of the waterway and grounds surrounding the Club. The Lagoon Room opens up to a covered, screened patio and has easy access to the open air terrace as well.

The Old Field Club’s lovely grounds provide the consummate setting for your wedding or special event. The property features a beautiful waterfront area that includes a pavilion with ample seating for outdoor ceremonies along with a spacious lawn that is perfect for photographs. In the warmer months flowers and foliage are abundant while in cooler times the natural beauty of Long Island remains a memorable backdrop.
